Vic's walking in a Silver wonderland

An appearance on television, being talent spotted by a famous comedian, a spot at the Manchester Opera House, and being mobbed for his autograph by eager fans.

It's been a great year for Morecambe showman, Vic Silver.

Victor Woznicki, aka 'the one and only Vic Silver' recently adapted his act from male vocalist to lively vocal entertainer and was spotted by Dave Spikey, from the popular Phoenix Nights comedy show.

Vic has been performing in the local area for years, singing songs from the 1960s and 'making people laugh without telling a joke.'

However, following a stint at the Jubilee Working Men's Club in Morecambe, his performing dreams started to come true.

Comedian Dave Spikey, who was looking for talent for a Granada television programme called 'Chasing a Dream' was very impressed with Vic's act and invited him to perform at Manchester Opera House on Monday, December 12.

Vic said: "I couldn't believe it when I got the phone call, I thought it was a joke."

But, sure enough, Vic traveled down to Manchester to perform in front of some 2,000 people.

He said: "What a fantastic night, lots of variety acts - brilliant entertainment. Dave was very complimentary about my part of the show. He said that I'm a showman and people must see my full act."

Earlier Dave had been searching for a star at Droylsden Working Men's Club, when he said to the crowd: "It's a week since I was in Morecambe and I can't get Vic Silver out of my head. He is a showman, I love him, he's absolutely fantastic."

Vic Silver has plenty more exciting shows in the pipeline, including many cabaret performances locally and throughout the UK.

He said "I've been singing all my life but have made changes to my act to try to be more entertaining, instead of just standing in one place. I try to have a laugh with the audience and get them to interact with me."

Vic would like to say a big thank you to his stepson, Craig Payne, who has supported him along the way.

Vic said "Without Craig I'd really be struggling."

Modest Vic is very embarrassed by the admiration from fans. He said "People start chanting 'there's only one Vic Silver' and 'walking in a Silver wonderland."

Recently, Vic was also spotted out shopping in Bolton, as a dozen fans crowded round him to ask for his autograph. He said: "I was really embarrassed. They said they'd seen me on the TV and I tried to pretend it wasn't me."

Who'll be going places in the coming year?

'Vic Silver'

A cabaret performer in the local area for years, Vic Silver, aka Victor Woznicki has recently enjoyed national acclaim when he appeared on a televised talent show called 'Chasing A Dream'.

Vic, who was star-searched by well-known comedian Dave Spikey (of Phoenix Nights fame) has seen bookings for his cabaret act go through the roof.

A stint performing at the Manchester Opera House and being mobbed by a dozen screaming fans whilst he was out shopping in Bolton, is all in a year's work for the crooner.

He says: "I'm like Chico, except I've been doing it for longer and I'm a better singer!"

I say: "The X Factor 2006 watch this space"
